What is PlanWorks?
PlanWorks is business management software for independent food businesses — cafés, bakeries, cloud kitchens and small restaurants. It replaces the usual mix of a billing app, stock spreadsheet and accountant's ledger with one system covering POS billing, inventory, purchasing, staff salary, expenses, bank accounts, owner capital and profit & loss.
Who is PlanWorks for?
PlanWorks is built for owner-operated food businesses with one to fifty staff that have outgrown spreadsheets but do not need enterprise ERP. A typical PlanWorks customer runs one or two outlets, takes both counter sales and advance orders, and wants the owner to see profit without waiting for a monthly accounts summary.
How is PlanWorks different from a normal POS?
A normal POS records sales and stops there, leaving purchases, salaries and bank balances somewhere else. In PlanWorks every module posts to the same bank ledger, so a sale, a supplier payment, a salary run and an owner drawing all move the same balance. Profit and loss is therefore derived from the actual ledger rather than re-keyed from separate reports.
Can I give staff access without showing them financial data?
Yes. PlanWorks has three roles. Owners see everything including bank accounts, owner capital and team management. Managers handle day-to-day operations — menu, inventory, purchasing, staff records, expenses and profit & loss — but cannot open bank accounts, capital or team settings. Staff can only reach POS billing and customer orders. Permissions are enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface.
Does PlanWorks track owner capital and drawings?
Yes. PlanWorks records money the owner puts into the business and money taken out as separate capital entries. These post to the bank ledger because the cash genuinely moves, but they are deliberately excluded from profit and loss, since a capital contribution is not revenue and an owner drawing is not a business expense.
How does inventory stay accurate?
Every event that changes stock in PlanWorks writes a stock movement row — a POS sale, a delivered order, a received purchase, a wastage entry or a manual correction. The current stock level is therefore always explainable: you can open any item and see the chain of movements that produced the number on screen.
How much does PlanWorks cost?
PlanWorks is priced per business rather than from a fixed public price list, because a single-outlet bakery and a four-outlet cloud kitchen need very different things. Email the team with your number of outlets and how many people need a login, and you will get a straight answer and a free trial to test it against your own numbers.
How do I get started with PlanWorks?
Start by creating a workspace, which is free and takes a couple of minutes — add your menu and you can take a real bill the same afternoon. If you would rather talk it through first, or you run more than one outlet, email the PlanWorks team and someone will walk you through it.
Can more than one person use PlanWorks at the same time?
Yes. PlanWorks is multi-user by design. You invite team members by email, choose their role, and they get their own login. Several people can bill, receive stock and update orders at once, and each workspace's data is isolated from every other business on the platform.
Do I need to install anything?
No. PlanWorks runs in a web browser on any laptop, tablet or phone, so there is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated. Receipts print to a standard 80mm thermal printer through the browser's print dialog.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
Your data remains yours. PlanWorks stores each business in its own isolated workspace, and you can export or request your records at any time. Ending a subscription closes access to the application; it does not give PlanWorks ownership of your sales, purchase or accounting history.
